TTMD Players out shooting all weekend long!

It was a busy pool weekend for the area. There were a variety of money tournaments and league tournaments going on all over the DMV area, especially in Maryland. Team TTMD had players from all over competing.

TTMD Player Steve Johnson

For some of us, the weekend started on Friday night. Wayne Everhart and I were on-site at Triple Nine’s running the JPNEWT first ever Chip Tournament. It was a blast! It went very quickly. We cannot wait to do another one. Also, TTMD player Steve Johnson was out shooting in a tournament at Milford Billiards. Congratulations on your 3-way split of 1st place Steve!

Like most Saturdays’ a lot of pool was happening, everywhere. TTMD players Sarah Ivins and David Mason shot a 9-ball team event at Bankshots Bar and Grill in Laurel, MD. Dylan Sphor and partner Thomas Haas were shooting in a doubles tournament in Waynesboro, Pa. Congratulations on your 2nd place finish guys! Brandon Stidham was shooting in the APA MVP tournament at Center Pockets. Dotti and Fred Prietz were shooting in a JNT doubles tournament at Brews and Cues, while Jon Mundock, Lucas Kilgore and Brian Kilgore were all playing in the JNT Short Rack at Brews. Steve Johnson was shooting in a 9-ball tournament in Delaware. KTWO was shooting in DC APA Singles Regionals for both 8 and 9 Ball. Congratulations KTWO for winning your 8-ball bracket. You are going to Vegas!!! Side Note: KANKAN (KTWO) was playing in both the 8 and 9 ball APA regional tournaments at the same exact time. It was an absolute grind for her all day long. In the end, she won the 8-ball bracket but lost the 9-ball bracket by 1 ball in the finals! We are so proud of you KTWO! Way to grind it out!

TTMD Billiard Streaming onsite at JPNEWT Stop #1 (DAY 1)

Saturday was a very busy day for the streaming team of TTMD. We were up early and back at it, on-site to bring live professional coverage of JPNEWT Tour stop #1 at Triple Nines in Elkridge, Maryland. Like most tournaments there were some hiccups and delays, however, we persevered!! It wouldn’t have been possible without the help of Lai Li and Judie Wilson. You ladies rock! Thank you so much for helping me set up those brackets and get the tournament rolling! It was a bit overwhelming!

Wayne was doing his thing, and soon everything was set up for “The Voice” George Hammerbacher to kick things off.

Representing Team TTMD at the JPNEWT Saturday Semi-Pro event were, Karen Mundock, Lindsay Carroll, Lai Li, TTMD Stream Sponsor Gina Cunningham, and of course, I played too. Also, repping TTMD was Kimberly Smith-Martin!! It was so awesome to see Kim in her TTMD gear this weekend! We are proud of all of you for competing and we hope you attend more JPNEWT events in the future.

Michelle Brigerman

Shout out and an extra special thank you to TTMD Ambassador, Michele Brigerman. Not many of you know but Michele has been with TTMD since day one. She is my go-to person for everything!! Well, Saturday Michele showed up to check on Wayne and me, like she always does, and within 2 minutes of her arrival, I had her working! I was in the middle of a match and ran up to her, threw a camera in her hand, and said please take pictures! For the next 2 hours, she took pictures of all the ladies playing in the event. So, most of the pictures featured in this blog were taken by my bestie, Michele Brigerman. Thank you so much, sweetie!

Jon Mundock was also on-site at Triple Nine’s playing in their weekly Saturday night tournament, directed by The Hammer. Congratulations on your 2nd place finish Jon! If you looking for something to do on a Saturday night you should check out this tournament!

Stay tuned for the blog covering this past Sunday’s action, as there was just too much to jam into one post. 🙂

Thank you all for representing Team TTMD. Wayne and I are so lucky to have such an amazing, hardworking, helpful, and dedicated team.

Ladies of the J. Pechauer NorthEast Women’s Tour (JPNEWT) Supports Local Tournament

This past weekend The Ladies of the JPNEWT were out competing in the Women’s Maryland State 9-Ball Championship.

On the Hill Productions’, Tournament Directors Loye Bolyard and Beverlee Dillow host 8 ball, 9 Ball, and 10 Ball Maryland State events each year. However, this was the first-ever Women’s only Maryland State tournament and the Ladies of the NEWT were excited to participate. The tournament was held at Brews and Cues on the Blvd. This was a Fargo-rated Handicapped tournament with Texas Express rules.

The JP NorthEast Women’s Tour was well represented at this event, 14 of the 30 women in the event were Ladies of the JPNEWT. It was so great seeing so many women come out and play. There were women from all over the country participating in this event.  Most of the women were from the DMV area, however, there were many others from New York, New Jersey, West Virginia, and even all the way from California. The competition was fierce all day.

In the end, one our very own JPNEWT Lady’s were victorious.

Nicole Nester went undefeated and captured the prestigious title of Women’s Maryland State 9-Ball Champion!!! Nicole played fantastic all day, never losing focus and dominating the field with scores of 6-2, 6-3, 6-2, 6-1, 6-1, and 6-0. Congratulations on your victory Nicole, you worked hard and truly deserve it. We cannot wait to see you in action on the tour this year.

Coming in 3rd place and also playing fantastic all day was Eugenia Gyftopoulos. Eugenia is ranked #31 on the WPBA. She had a very strong showing this event with match scores of 6-4, 6-2, 6-2, 6-2, then a loss to Nester 6-2 and Malm 7-1. Congratulations on your 3rd place finish. We wish you the best of luck on the WPBA tour this year.

Colleen Knauff-Shoop took 4th place in the event. Colleen suffered an early 2nd round loss to KTWO, but she did not let it get her down! She then ground through the B side, with match scores of 6-2, 6-3, 6-4, 5-2 before meeting KTWO again and getting her payback with a score of 6-3. Colleen then fell short to Malm 7-3. Congratulations on your 4th place finish you absolutely worked for it. Your determination and preservation are an inspiration. It’s nice to have you back playing with us, we missed you!

Colleen Knauff-Shoop

5th/6th place was captured by Kelly Daniel and KTWO Yu. Both women are newer to the JPNEWT and have been working hard these past 2 years, playing in higher-level tournaments and practicing often. This was the first time these women cashed in a singles tournament, and it was a huge milestone for both of them. The Ladies of the NEWT are proud of both of you.

TeamTTMD at the JNT Elite Scotch Doubles

We would like to thank Joe Norton and April Norton of Joe Norton Tournaments, Brews & Cues On the Boulevard and On The Hill Productions for their work in bringing us this past weekend’s tournament.

We were well represented by team Crothers/Funk and Daniel/Everhart.

Although our teams did not get into the cash rounds, we enjoyed spending time, supporting our friends.

Congratulations to Clint Clayton and Thomas Zippler on their first-place finish.

Our team is looking forward to competing in another JNT event.

TeamTTMD @ The Green Turtle

This post is a bit overdue in that the tournament was held on 4/25/2021

TeamTTMD was well represented with a contingent of players, shooting in the 550 and under Fargo, 9 Ball Tournament at The Green Turtle in the Harford Mall, Harford County, MD.

It was nice to see players from all over the area coming together and supporting local tournament director Brian Kilgore. The Green Turtle has been stepping up and working hard to improve the tournament. The players were treated to new Dynasphere balls this time around.

Thank you to our teammates (SP) Mary Watkins, (SP) Nick Spriggs, (SP) Wayne Everhart, (SP) Kelly Daniel, (PR) Michelle Brigerman, (PR) Kan-Kan, and (PR) Kimberly Smith-Martin for taking the trip. Watching the team, cheering one another on was a great feeling.

Thank you Kelly Daniel and Kimberly Smith-Martin for the photos.

The event, for our team, was highlighted by an excellent run by Michelle Brigerman and Nick Spriggs.

For Michelle, this was a very special day in that this was the highest she has placed in a non-APA singles event. We are very proud of Michelle for branching out into singles tournament play. She had a great showing besting some solid shooters placing tied for 9th.

(PR) Michelle Brigerman

Nick Spriggs was shooting some absolute stellar pool, jumping and kicking to get out more than once. Nick said he just ran out of gas, finishing in 3rd. We are looking forward to watching Nick’s game mature. The sky is the limit for this young talent.

(SP) Nick “The Kid” Spriggs

Don’t be shy in reaching out to Brian Kilgore for the next “Turtle Tournament”.

Third Place Finish for Kelly Daniel and Vinnie Biondo Sr.

Scotch Doubles Tournament; The New Green Room Billiards hosted by Alishia Hixson

Congratulations to (SP) Kelly Daniel and (VIP) Vinnie Biondo Sr., for battling it out all day after being sent to the B side in their second match.

(VIP) Vince Biondo Sr, (SP) Kelly Daniel

Over the past few days, we have been hearing more of the event and some of the shot-making that took place. From many accounts, there were some wow moments.

For Kelly and Vince, this was their first time as partners, but have often faced off against one another in tournaments.

Kelly admits it was a long day and says it was hard to stay focused and be positive, but they both found a way to pick each other up when they were down. An all-important ingredient for any successful scotch doubles team. (Read more about her experience on her Facebook page)

We are extremely proud of both players for their tenacity and for representing with class.

This is the third week that Kelly has made a strong run and each time a little closer to the top. We are extremely proud of her determination and the hard work she is putting in to improve her game.

TeamTTMD was well represented by (SP) Leroy Taylor, (PR) Kim Smith-Martin, (SP) Mary Watkins, (PR) Michelle Brigerman, (VIP) John Loller, and (VIP) Zach Nantz. Thank you to all of our teammates and VIPS that competed and supported one another even though they may have had to battle against each other.

Here are a few photos from the event courtesy of Kelly Daniel.

Thank you to Alishia Hixson and The New Green Room Billiards for a well ran event.
